CCSD Statement on Townville Elementary

Charleston, SC — "All of Charleston County School District is standing with Townville Elementary and the Anderson 4 School District. Our collective thoughts and prayers go out to the students and teacher hurt in this act of violence, along with their families, and all those affected by what happened yesterday.

In light of this tragedy, CCSD’s Security and Emergency Management team sent out a memo to all our of principals last night, reminding them to review the emergency procedures that are in place. The district will also conduct a thorough review of our emergency plan against the facts of this incident.

In the meantime, we ask everyone in our community to help cultivate a culture of security and safety by remaining vigilant and supporting local law enforcement’s mission to assist us with protecting our students and teachers. Emergencies can occur at any time, so it is important we all take necessary steps to prepare.

The safety of our students and staff is always our highest priority, and we remain dedicated to that priority."
